My FIRST EVER Tie Dye

My cousin and I got the hair brained idea today to do some tie dying for the first time. I am SOO happy with the results. We had a good time doing it except for the killer headaches and nausea we both have from the dye.

Here is a shirt for me! LOVE IT!

Tate's shirt was voted best!!

This one is for Keaton. I accordian folded this one.
Yes! They are underware!! Every self respecting hippie MUST have a pair this summer!!

My Mother's Day Gift to myself!

Sometimes a girl (especially in a house of boys) needs some pretty, pink, flowery things! So for Mother's Day I got myself a new bed spread and new window treatments!

This is the view from behind the door.

You can see my bed, Keaton's sidecar crib, Tate's bed, the pack'n'play and the tip of Adison's bed.

I was very excited when I found out my grandmothers painting matched the quilt!!
It has been sitting on a self not seen and now I enjoy it every day!!

I got the curtain part plain so I could put the garland on the outside curtain rod.

I really liked how it turned out.

Me...dressed up.

A friend today said she hadn't really seen me in 'fitted' clothes. So here I am.

I was attending the celebration of a special little girl's life.
You can see all about Bella's life
here. She was an amazing child who touched many lives.

We will miss you Bella!

Family Tree

I have been working on Tate's family tree cross stitch on and off for maybe 2 years.
I finally finished it all!! All the names are there in real life.
I am working on Adison's in fall colors and soon will start on Keaton's. Keaton's will look alot like Tates, spring colors.

My Tuesday

While pulling out of CVS parking lot I hear a noise....wonder what it could be?
Hubby shows up to change it for me only to have a lugnut/lock break!

So we call a tow truck (THANKS ED AND LESLIE!) and off to Sears we go.

Keaton's first ride in a tow truck! Forward facing at that. Tate's seat is sooo much easier to take out and put back.
Home we go on a spare. The new tires are on order.

I got most of my days errands done. No groceries and no new clothes..but other than that not too bad.

TENNESSEE NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

Hi all. As you all may know I worked in Early Intervention for many years. A recent decision was made to do away with the program that I used to work with, Tennessee Infant Parent Services. All the administration and Regional Lead Teachers will be loosing their jobs. This move will be taking away the best and brightest in the field which will drastically effect the quality of the services these special children will receive.

This program is an excellent resource for families across the state of Tennessee. We have to stop this! There is information listed on a blog,
http://www.help-tips.blogspot.com/ on who to contact. Please help us in the effort to stop this action by the house and senate. You will need to email, call or fax to voice your concern and complaints. I have included a list of the Ways and Means Committee members also. Contact as many people as you can.

Please take a few minutes today to do this. The groups are meeting this week to make final decisions. We must stop it from happening! Even if you do not have small children in the program, please take the time. I have personally seen the effects that EI has on children in need.

Thank you for your time ....thousands of families and children thank you.

Sandra

PS...PLEASE pass this to everyone you know in Tennessee.

Shoes...Shoes...Shoes...

Stephanie over at Adventuresinbabywearing has given us another tag. This one is Shoes we can't live without.

So I will start with my houseslippers. Red fuzzy slippers. Everyone needs a pair. With 3 little boys and 2 cats I never go into the kitchen with slippers on.

And for the everyday shoe. My Earth Shoe shoes. I love these things! However, I only wear them in cold weather. So up they will go for the summer months and out come the Keds.

Posted by Picasa
And of course..the Keds. I have to have 3 pair every season. The pair to the far right is the outside yard/yardsale keds. The middle pair is the everyday/jeans pair (they do need a quick wash), and the pair to the left is the 'nice' dress pair. Next year I rotate. The everyday pair becomes the outside pair, the 'nice' pair becomes the everyday pair and I get a new pair for the 'nice' pair. Insane..yes.

As I am taking the pictures of my shoes, hubby walks by in HIS shoes he can't live with out.
I snapped a picture. Here are his Samba. He searched like 4 stores till he found them.

Possessions

Once again I have been tagged my Stephanie.. this one is about my most prozed possessions.

This one was a little hard. I am a collector (aka packrat), so I have lots of stuff!

But then I started looking around and saw a few things that I would go after in a fire. So I included them in the list of prize possessions.

This is a painting done by my paternal grandmother. I was the baby of 19 grandchildren and when I was born she painted this for my parents. Not sure if you can see it well, but there is one flower in the front that is clearer and bigger than the rest. That is me. I am the new flower in her garden. This hangs over my fireplace with 2 of her water colors on either side.

This is another prize possession. These dolls are Madame Alexander dolls from the 'Little Women' series. My husbands maternal grandmother collected dolls her whole life. When we got married she and my mother in law got these dolls beacuse they matched us; hubby green eyes and brown hair and me brown eyes and hair. They then made the clothes to match our wedding attire! The dress is so like mine its scary! I was so honored that my mother in law and grandmother in law would do them for me. They are beautiful and so speical to me!

And the last of my possessions that I treasure most are all the pictures of my kids. I have a very bad memory and want to be able to know what my kids look like every moment of life. I have had their picture taken every month of their first year and very often after that.

Thanks Stephanie for another great TAG!

Mama to the Mama Blogger

Stephanie (adventuresinbabywearing ) passed along this TAG to me. Mama to the Mama Blogger. My mom doesn't blog, not sure if she reads this one. (If so..HI MOM).

Here is a picture of my mom, her best friend Kathy (my Godmother) and Aunty Carol. Her best girls growing up. This is at a shower, May 1968. I'm guessing Carols, since she has the flower on.

The best part of the picture is HER HAIR!! What was she thinking??? I'm guessing the hole in the ozone is the lone result of the hairspray used on this hair do!

This is the same gals, Summer 2001.

They are still extremely close and are there for each other anytime they need to be.

And here is June 2006 at the Surprise 40th Anniversary Party I threw for my parents. Pictured again...My mom, Kathy, Barbara and Aunty Carol. The orginal bridemaids at my parents wedding, 40 years later. They are all still close.

I will say the point to the TAG is to think of something special about your mom. I have so many I can't count, but looking at these pictures I can say I learned a very important thing from my mom. Friends. Girl Friends. They are priceless. They are hard to find. And when you find them you DO NOT LET THEM GO! I know at any time I can call Kathy and Carol and they will drop their life for my mom. Anytime, anyplace. That is special. That is rare.

I love my mom dearly. I love my Godmother. And I love my Aunty Carol. I love that they love my mom so dearly. I can rest and know that there are 2 other women out there who will be there with my mom when she needs them. And vice versa.

TAG....Your next.

YEAH!!

Well...here it is!! My NEW (to me) VAN! It is an '05 and is Ocean Mist..the color of Eeyore! I am soo excited!
It drives great and is soo comfy!

My New Van!

Isn't it just BEAUTIFUL!!
.
.
.
.

.
.
.
.
or at least it would be..if I wasn't still driving this one.
Let me start by saying to never, ever, upon death buy a car at HARRY LANE KIA/CHRYSLER in Knoxville, TN. They will lie to get you in the door.

I had spoke to a sales man on Thrusday. Probably talked to each other about 7 times. We talked money, we talked numbers, we talked payment. We were on the same page all the way. We set a time for me to come down on Friday. My mom was here so I spent the morning cleaning and clearing out my van. I mean really clearing it out! We drove to the dealership, an hour away.

I parked next to my new van! I smelled my new van! I touched my new van!

The sales guy and I went inside. He got my papers and we chatted. He goes away to get the final papers and info on my old van. The sales guy comes back in and sits down. He looks up at me and says "they can't do it" I said "excuse me?". He says "the sales manager says we can't do it." I stand up and tell him " I want you to know I am livid and i will never buy a car from Harry Lane and I plan on telling everyone I know!" The poor sales guy. I truley do not belive that he was at fault. The manager did not listen to him and told him in a lie that he could do the deal to get me in there. Well HA on them. I got up and walked out the door. Giving everyone I could the dirties looks I could. I was yelling and fuming the whole way out to the van. Sales guys outside were scattering like mad. I do belive they knew I was mad.

So long story short...
I did NOT get my new van.
I hate the sales manager at Harry Lane in Knoxville.
Momma ain't happy!

Anyone want to trade an '01 Odyssey for an '06 Sedona?
